The Alden 18 Ultralight is our most versatile open water rowing shell. It offers all the benefits of the Alden 16, plus the ability to easily set up for double or single person rowing. The Alden 18 Ultralight is almost 20% lighter than the original fiberglass model, because the hull is now fabricated using a blend of the much lighter carbon fiber with fiberglass.

The Alden 18 Ultralight is a versatile scull. It can be rigged either solo or tandem (single or double) depending on how many "Oarmaster" drop-in sliding seat rigger units are installed. The 59lb shell is light enough for most people to lift on and off their vehicle.

Row with a partner, take a friend as a passenger, or row by yourself. The 18 features the same hull design as the Alden 16, but is a bit longer with a stiffening section to maintain rigidity when loaded. The large cockpit has extra space for storage and touring. The double has been rowed all over the world, including an coastal adventure from Alaska to Washington State, loaded with gear. Even on shorter trips, you will appreciate this shell's stability and versatility.
